WJA Jet Sizer

The Water Jetting Association (WJA)

It was some 30 years ago that the Association of High Pressure Water Jetting Contractors first decided to seek the help of - and provide information to - Safety Officers from all over the country about the enormous benefits (and potential hazards) of High Pressure Water Jetting.

From these early beginnings we have developed to the stage that our Training Courses are now accredited by the City & Guilds Institute. The Association also recognises and supports the CSCS or Construction Skills Certification Scheme - there is a route to CSCS Certification via the WJA Training Certificates and 'Industry Accreditation'.

The World's First 'Code Of Practice' For High Pressure Water Jetting

From the inaugural meeting in Birmingham there developed the idea that the WJA should produce a Code of Practice that would encompass all the best and safest practices in this young industry sector. The first Code of Practice was published a few years later in 1982. It has been a huge success selling thousands of copies around the world. Indeed it has been adopted by other National Associations and even Government Departments from America to Australia. A new - fully illustrated version of the Code of Practice - specifically written for the Drain and Sewer Cleaning Sector is also available.

Even in the early 1980's it was clear that there were a number of companies involved in this exciting new technology who were sufficiently altruistic to wish to make sure that "Best Practice" techniques and applications were a matter of common knowledge. From its very inception the "Code of Practice" has been available to all-comers - members or not, - competitors or not. As a result of this approach the AHPWJC (as it was known in the early days) was able to build a long-standing relationship with the Health and Safety Executive as well as the PSA and a number of other Public and Local Authorities.

The "Code of Practice" - already in its seventh edition - has been granted VAT-free status as a Safety publication and is an ISBN designated publication which means that it should be available through any public lending library world-wide. The ISBN Number is: 1 874278 02 4.

Spreading The Word

The Association has been committed to publicising the benefits of Water Jetting for many years. This has been done by our continuing sponsorship of the International Conference on Jetting Technology and our own WJA Annual Conference, AGM, Dinner & Golf Day.
