Specialist Heads

Many manufacturers have developed specialist heads for particular applications, and for specific runs of drains or sewers e.g. bomb and plough*.

*'Bomb': manufactured to accept pencil or fan jets used for various applications, such as descaling.

'Plough': designed to direct jets to lowest section/invert of drain for desilting.

'Flails': designed with a rotating body and chains attached.

'Root Cutters': designed with either a rotating flat head with teeth or spiral coil or directional arm.

Safety Leader Hose: Is a 3m length of High Pressure hose of the same specification being used on the application but of a different colour. This when used on drain cleaning applications gives the operator visual warning of the position of the jet in relation to the point or aperture where the hose was inserted.
Jet/Suction Pump: This accessory when connected to the end of the high pressure hose converts the high pressure waterjets into an efficient suction pump using a venturi action and can be used to remove water and debris from a manhole or chamber.
Hose Feed Guide: Used to protect the main jetting hose from excessive wear by surrounding the hose at the point of entry into the manhole or chamber.
Drains: Are usually classified into the following main types: Domestic, Surface Water and Industrial.
Sewers and Drains can be of the following types:

Foul (Carries Domestic and/or Industrial Waste only)

Storm (Carries Surface or Rain Water only)

Combined (A system carrying both Foul and Storm flows)

Additional commonly used terms are:

House Drain - usually serves only one property

Private Drain or Sewer - usually the responsibility of the property owner

Public Sewer - owned and maintained by the Sewerage Undertaker
